Match Preview – Hereford (A)
The Linnets travel to Herefordshire to take on Hereford at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium.
Well, this will be an entertaining one. Paul Caddis travels back to Edgar Street for the first time since February of this year to take on Aaron Downes’ high-flying Hereford.
Tuesday night was one to forget for The Bulls as they lost to AFC Telford United on home turf. Louis Moult had the easy task of tapping past Theo Richardson after some brilliant play from the right-hand side. Defeat to Telford meant that The Bulls have now lost back-to-back home games. The last time that happened was back in March of this year.
Eight wins, two draws and three losses is how The Bulls have started the campaign, but a key point to note is that after their opening-day defeat to Buxton, they went on a nine-game unbeaten streak, winning seven and drawing two. In that run, they won three on the bounce before drawing with Chester on the 29th of August. After that, they then won four on the bounce, beating Southport, Spennymoor, Harborough and South Shields.
Hereford’s win against South Shields at Edgar Street was an emphatic one. They triumphed 6-0 thanks to a hat-trick from forward Billy Phillips, with Bitemo, Iwunze and Skinner each adding one to their tally.
The Linnets were on the unfortunate end of a thrashing on Tuesday night when Worksop stuck five past Hollingshead to give Lynn their first league defeat in five matches. First Team Manager Paul Caddis labelled it as ‘embarrassing’ on the night, a result he didn’t expect. Greaves bagged a brace, while Cropper, Boyce and Hatton each got one to round off a wonderful night for the Tigers.
The last time Lynn visited Hereford, they came out victorious as Ross Crane netted two superb finishes on the day. Lynn haven’t lost at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium in their last four visits. Across nine matches since August 2019, Hereford have won once, Lynn have won four, and four draws have taken place.
The Bulls have scored 24 goals so far this campaign, one of the highest totals in the league. Notts County loanee Harrison Iwunze, who will be at Hereford until January next year, has scored nine goals in the league so far this campaign and has already become a huge fan favourite at Edgar Street.
Aaron Downes, Hereford’s First Team Manager, has been in charge since February 2026. He’s managed 35 competitive matches, winning 17, drawing five and losing 13. He managed to keep the Herefordshire outfit up on the final day of last campaign with a point at home against an already-relegated Peterborough Sports side.
Just as Downes did with Hereford, Caddis kept King’s Lynn Town in the division with a point on the final day, but away at Chester. When Lynn were tipped to lose that game and fall into Step Three of non-league football, Caddis and the Linnets were defensively strong and were rewarded with survival.
3pm, MandM Edgar Street Stadium, tomorrow!
It will be chaos, it will be enthralling, and we have a supporters’ coach travelling to back Lynn in numbers.
Thank you for your immense support so far this campaign. Safe travels to Hereford.
Up the Lynn!!!
