Matchday fourteen sees the Linnets travel to the KC Sofas Stadium to take on Worksop Town.
Saturday saw both sides add a point to their tally for the season. Worksop travelled to Harborough Town with a point to prove after hitting a comfortable run of form. Liam Waldock broke the deadlock midway through the first half to give the Tigers the lead. Harborough came flying out of the blocks after the interval, with Dempsey Arlott-John getting the equaliser eight minutes after the break. Both sides pushed for a winner late on but were unable to hit the back of the net for a second time.
For Lynn, the deadlock was locked shut at the Docherty Walks Stadium on Saturday against Southport. It was a game with minimal chances, with Lynn finding more joy in the latter stages but being unfortunate not to break through the Sandgrounders’ defence.
Four points separate Lynn and Worksop in the league table, with this game expected to be a closely contested ninety minutes. Lynn sit in fourth, five points off Hereford at the summit and eight points ahead of AFC Telford United, who sit just inside the bottom four.
Worksop have picked up seventeen points from thirteen games so far this campaign, winning five, drawing twice and losing six. The Tigers have scored fifteen and conceded twenty, recording a goal difference of minus five.
If we read into Worksop’s home stats, a draw at the KC Sofas Stadium seems unlikely. Of the six home games the Tigers have played so far, zero draws have occurred, with them winning three and losing three.
The main man in the goalscoring charts so far for the Tigers is Vaughan Redford. The attacker has four goals in thirteen league appearances.
Striker Kian Harratt, who was signed after his stint at Brackley Town in the National League last season, has three goals to his name so far this campaign. He will definitely be someone the Linnets will have to keep a close eye on, as it was only three years ago that he was scoring for Huddersfield Town in the Championship.
These two sides are very well matched in the form table and goalscoring charts over the last couple of games, as Lynn have scored nine goals in their last five matches, while Worksop have scored eight. So, going off that piece of knowledge, you can be confident of expecting goals.
The last time Lynn travelled to the KC Sofas Stadium, it ended in a Desmond draw, with the Tigers battling back from two goals down to grab a late equaliser.
Lynn took a one-goal lead into the interval after Bailey Clements darted the ball into the bottom-right corner ten minutes before the end of the half. Ross Crane delightfully doubled Lynn’s advantage four minutes after the break, creating the sense that the Norfolk outfit had found their groove.
However, the home crowd spurred the Tigers on, fully believing that, as they grew into the game, they were not down and out. Jordan Burrow, with fantastic physicality, managed to pummel the ball into the back of the net past Aaron Chapman to start the comeback for Worksop.
Then, in the first minute of injury time at the end of the game, a splendid cross from the right-hand side saw Jordan Burrow leap the highest in a scrambled six-yard box to bundle the ball across the line for Worksop’s second of the game. Snatching a point right at the death, the Tigers left Joe Simpson and his Lynn side stunned at the last gasp.
See you in Nottinghamshire, Linnets!
