Matchday thirteen sees the Linnets take on the Sandgrounders at the Docherty Walks Stadium in the Enterprise National League North.

Southport travel to Norfolk without a manager after Mark Duffy was relieved of his duties after just nineteen days in charge. However, they will come to The Walks with a point to prove. Three defeats in their last five matches, but four points from games against Morecambe and Spennymoor, will give the visitors some confidence.

Two wins, three draws and seven losses round off the first twelve games of this campaign for Southport. Without a win on the road so far this season, they will be hoping to put an end to that this weekend.

The Linnets are one of the most in-form teams in the league over the last seven games. However, this will not be an easy test this Saturday. Southport came to Norfolk in December 2023 and produced a shock by beating the Linnets by four goals to one. As we know, anything can happen in football.

After last weekend’s draw at Merthyr, both Paul Caddis and Kwame Thomas said in their post-match interviews that the team were disappointed not to take all three points. That will leave fire in the bellies coming into this home game against Southport.

Lynn have scored sixteen goals in the last seven games, showing that the forward line will most definitely be a test for the Sandgrounders’ defence tomorrow afternoon, considering the fact that they have conceded fifteen goals away from home already this season.

Dan Ogwuru is the man leading the goalscoring charts for the Merseyside outfit, with three to his name already this season. He scored the winning goal in the game against Morecambe on the 8th of September. His other two goals have come against Hednesford Town and on the opening day against Hebburn Town.

Looking at the league table, Southport sit third from bottom with nine points to their name. The Linnets sit in fourth with twenty points earned from twelve matches, but they have played a game more than five of the other teams in the top seven, with many of them playing in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round last weekend.

In the head-to-head stats between the two sides, there have been nine games played since 2019, with Lynn winning six, Southport winning one and two draws taking place. The last time these two sides met, Lynn were victorious after Jack Lambert scored from distance three minutes in, with Jayden Davis finding the back of the net two minutes before the ninety. Dylan Dwyer put the visitors down to ten men after 40 minutes. A snapping challenge on the left-hand side of midfield saw the referee reach for his back pocket without hesitation, sending Dwyer down the tunnel.

Your support will be vital tomorrow, and I am sure you will be in full voice as usual.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Docherty Walks tomorrow for our final home game this month.

Thank you for your amazing support, as always.

UP THE LYNN!!!
