Matchday ten of the league season sees the Linnets travel to Shropshire to take on AFC Telford United at the SEAH Stadium.
Telford are coming off the back of late heartbreak in an FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay fixture away against Worksop Town. The first meeting ended in a two-all draw after a chaotic ninety minutes.
Forced to a replay, with little time left in the game on Tuesday night, Telford battled from two down to force extra time in the tie. An injury in the first half of extra time saw lots of additional minutes being played, with Telford being forced to finish the game with ten men. Being reduced to ten, Worksop then went on to score three to cruise into the Third Qualifying Round in dramatic fashion.
Another injury added to the tally for the Telford gaffer, as they started the game with a rotated eleven. Matt Stenson, Matt Curley and Zak Lilly were out of contention due to sudden injuries.
Stenson is the top scorer for the Bucks so far this season, and he netted in both encounters with the Linnets last campaign. Four goals in six hundred and sixty-four minutes of league football for the main man leading the line this campaign.
Goals have been few and far between so far for the Bucks this season, only managing to score eight goals at the time of writing, which is the joint-second-least amount of goals scored by a team in the division so far. But as we all know, stats are good to know, but do not influence or help when predicting a game in the National League North.
Two wins, three draws and four losses for Kevin Wilkins’ side at the start of the campaign sees them in eighteenth place at the moment, sitting one point above the bottom four.
For the Linnets, they bowed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle last Saturday, with Bedford fighting from a goal down to win two-one and set themselves up for a Third Qualifying Round fixture on the 3rd of October. However, three league wins out of their last four will still fuel the team with confidence going into tomorrow’s fixture. The Linnets will be without defender Aaron Jones as he starts his suspension this Saturday after seeing red against Bedford last weekend.
The last time the Linnets visited the SEAH Stadium, a two-one scoreline in favour of the hosts saw Telford march their way to a much-needed three points, despite Lynn’s best efforts to rescue a point after a late consolation goal from Simone Troso.
Both teams in search of three points tomorrow sets up a fantastic spectacle.
