Matchday seven sees Darlington welcome King’s Lynn Town to Blackwell Meadows in the Enterprise National League North.
Both teams come off the back of wins, with Darlington winning by a goal to nil away at Radcliffe, thanks to Mark Beck converting from 12 yards three minutes before half-time. The only downside to that victory was the sending-off of Tom Bryant midway through the second half.
For King’s Lynn Town, a first win at home this season was achieved on Bank Holiday Monday. A wonderful all-round performance saw the Linnets stick three past Scarborough after falling behind ten minutes before the break. Goals from Jesse Nwabueze, Carlton Ubaezuonu and Reece Hall-Johnson capped off a superb display in front of a very impressed home crowd.
The Quakers sit in 18th place in the league, with six points from six games. A win against Bedford on matchday two and the victory at Radcliffe have accumulated the points for the Quakers so far this season. Defeats to Worksop, Chester, Harborough and Macclesfield round off the opening six fixtures for Darlington.
Eight goals have been scored so far this season, with three from Pat McLaughlin, two from Dylan Stephenson, and one each for Max Howells, Ellis Stanton and Mark Beck, rounding off the scorers for the Quakers so far this season.
Darlington haven’t won at home since Tuesday 17th March, which was a 3-0 win against Radcliffe. Seven matches, zero wins, zero draws and seven losses at Blackwell Meadows, so the home fans will be desperate to see a home win this Saturday.
Steve Watson, Darlington manager, has been in charge of the Quakers since December 2023. His side have won 56 times, lost 47 and drawn 26 in 129 matches.
In the head-to-head between the two sides, there have been nine matches, with Lynn taking five wins, Darlington taking two, and two draws. The last time Lynn travelled to Blackwell Meadows, they left with a point, thanks to Jack Lambert scoring against his former club to level the game five minutes after Aiden Rutledge had put the Quakers into the lead.
The last time the Linnets won at Blackwell Meadows was back in 2023, thanks to a Josh Barrett double. His first goal came inside the first minute of the game, with his second coming 20 minutes later. Jacob Hazel scored in between those two goals, in the 16th minute, but it wasn’t enough to stop Josh Barrett from getting his second five minutes later.
Back-to-back trips to the North East, and with a coach full of Linnets making the journey up tomorrow, we cannot wait to see you at Blackwell Meadows. We thoroughly appreciate the support, and hopefully, we can bring three points back to Norfolk.
