Matchday three of the season is upon us, and I’m sure it will not disappoint.
The Linnets take on the Saints on Tuesday 18th August 2026 for a chance to fight back from the result at the weekend. They will feel quietly confident that they can do so, considering that in the last seven meetings, Brackley have never beaten King’s Lynn Town, with three wins and four draws.
Brackley Town will be no easy test, especially since they dropped down from the National League into the National League North, a division that they have finished in the top four in during their last nine National League North campaigns.
Four points from a possible six for Andy Whing’s side at the start of the new season, as they beat AFC Telford United by two goals to one on the opening day, away from St James Park.
The home return wasn’t as joyous, as they fought back from one down to eventually end up drawing with newly promoted Hebburn Town. O’Shea Ellis scored his first Saints goal, an impressive one too. The ball fell to the midfielder 25 yards from goal; he hit it first time and watched it dart into the bottom-left-hand corner.
The last meeting between King’s Lynn Town and Brackley was at the Docherty Walks back in March of last year. It wasn’t one to be remembered, as the deadlock failed to be broken, giving a point to Brackley on their quest for the title, and a point towards Lynn’s battle for the playoffs.
The last time King’s Lynn Town visited Northamptonshire to face Brackley Town, back in December 2024, they came out victorious with a one-nil win, thanks to the most unlikely of goalscorers, Kyle Callan-McFadden. He slid down on the floor in the penalty area to make the sweet connection with the ball that had fallen to him from a congested corner routine, somehow being able to place it in the back of the net through a crowd of bodies. This result saw King’s Lynn Town land at the top of the National League North table at Christmas.
This won’t be an easy game for either side. Lynn need to bounce back, while Brackley will be eager to continue their fiery start to the new campaign.
