For 70 years, the Main Stand at The Docherty Walks has been at the heart of King’s Lynn football, providing the backdrop to generations of players, supporters and unforgettable memories.
To mark 70 years since the stand opened, we recently welcomed back several former players giving them the opportunity to revisit the ground and reflect on their time playing for the club.
For those who once walked out onto the pitch, the memories of playing at The Docherty Walks remain as strong as ever. From the dressing room to stepping out in front of the crowd, the experience of representing King’s Lynn is something that stays with you long after your playing days are over.
The Main Stand has seen it all.
It has witnessed victories, defeats, celebrations, disappointment and countless moments that have become part of the club's history. Most importantly, it has provided a place for supporters to come together and back their team.
And that support remains just as important today.
Speaking about the impact of the crowd, Paul Caddis knows exactly how much it means to the players when they step out at The Walks.
“I want the support for the players, the supports brilliant, as long as we can stay as positive as we can, get as many people through the door. It’s a massive help. I don’t want to keep going on about it but people probably underestimate how important the crowd are on a matchday. Helping us deliver and helping us get three points”.
For 70 years, the Main Stand has been part of that connection between the team and the supporters.
Different players have pulled on the shirt. Different generations have filled the ground. Football has changed and the club has evolved, but the importance of the crowd has never disappeared.
That is what makes the anniversary so special.
