On a massive afternoon for King’s Lynn Town. They returned to the Docherty Walks for their final home of the season. Where the Linnets snatched a late point to draw 1-1 with Chorley.
In a battle for survival, King’s Lynn started well in what was an end to end opening to the game. As Ross Crane went closest after he cut inside and drilled his effort just wide.
As the first half progressed, King’s Lynn started to get control of the game. Playing with real intensity and a high tempo. As the chances began to fall the home sides way.
Terry Bondo went close, who’s curling effort produced a fine save Steve Drench. As did Ross Crane, who fired an effort low at the keeper as the Linnets began to really knock on the door.
However, the away side took the lead against the run of play. After Mike Calveley latched onto a cross, as his header was knocked past Chapman. To give the away side the lead at the break.
As the second half began, the nerves were beginning to show in the stands and on the pitch as the tempo and intensity from the first half disappeared. As the away side looked the most likely to double their lead.
The magpies went so close to a second after Reese Doherty was dispossessed and Max Wilson found himself through on goal. However the Chorley attacker could only find the side netting.
Things went from bad to worse for the Linnets. As Ross Crane who was booked in 58th minute, was given his marching orders after being booked. As the King’s Lynn has a mountain to climb in the final stages of the game.
It looked like King’s Lynn would be falling to a defeat at home. However in the 94th minute, King’s Lynn found a way through. As Carlton Ubaezuonu poked home from an Adam Marriott cross to give the Linnets a vital goal and a vital point in their fight survival.
A huge point at home this afternoon, as the Linnets travel to Chester for their final game of the season next weekend.
Thank you to all the supporters in attendance today and throughout the entire season at the Docherty Walks. Your support is always appreciated.
