The club are delighted to announce the signing of free-agent Martin Woods.
That name might be familiar to some as the 40 year-old defensive midfielder has played for many major teams in both England and Scotland.
Woods made his first ever professional appearance for Premier League outfit Sunderland in the 2005-06 season before moving to Rotherham United in League One, a league in which he was able to flourish in and arguably played his best football. Woods played approximately 115 games for Doncaster Rovers between 2008 & 2014, winning the League One title in the 2012-13 season.
79 appearances at Halifax Town and 59 at Boston United, playing under our current manager Ian Culverhouse during his spell at Boston. Woods has plenty of experience at both this level and higher in England. He's bringing more experience to a youthful Linnets squad, and will know exactly what is is expected of him from a manger he has previously worked with.
Woods also won silverware in his home nation of Scotland where he won the Scottish League Cup in the 2013-14 season for Ross County, playing over 90 games across all competitions during is time there.
He is available to play tonight.
